The Stanford Faculty Club
439 Lagunita Drive
Stanford, CA
The Stanford Institute for Advancing Just Societies is an interdisciplinary research institute that uses rigorous research and community-informed approaches to accelerate racial and ethnic justice so everyone can flourish. Together, BALEO and Stanford IAJS are convening this briefing to connect leading education research with BALEO's network of elected and appointed officials, educators, policymakers, and community leaders.
The briefing will feature Professor sean reardon—an IAJS faculty affiliate, Professor of Poverty and Inequality in Education at Stanford University, and Director of the Educational Opportunity Project, a core campus partner of IAJS. One of the nation's leading scholars on educational inequality, including school and residential segregation and racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic achievement gaps, Professor sean reardon will share findings from his research on educational opportunity across the United States.
Following the Education Policy Briefing, BALEO will present the 2026 BALEO Trailblazer Award to Hector Camacho Jr., San Mateo County Superintendent of Schools-Elect, in recognition of his historic election as the first Latino elected to serve as San Mateo County Superintendent of Schools. The BALEO Trailblazer Award honors individuals who have broken barriers as the first person of Latino ancestry elected to their respective public office, recognizing visionary leadership, historic achievement, and the lasting impact of opening doors for future generations.
We look forward to welcoming you during Latino Heritage Month for an inspiring evening of scholarship, public service, and celebration as we honor Hector Camacho Jr.'s historic achievement and our shared commitment to expanding educational opportunity for all.
